Plans to create 14 new homes on the location of the former Windsor fire station are moving ahead, following the purchase of the site by Spitfire Bespoke Homes. Planning permission had been granted for a development of five townhouses and nine apartments, located just a five-minute walk from Windsor town centre. Now Spitfire will drive forward the delivery of the development with its bespoke approach to quality and detail.

The award-winning housebuilder has built a reputation for delivering high quality homes in some of the country’s most prestigious locations, including Ascot, Gerrards Cross and Henley-on-Thames.

The new development will have a row of five terraced townhouses fronting onto St Mark’s Road. The apartment building to the rear will offer eight high specification two-bedroom apartments and a stunning penthouse. Every home will benefit from private parking. All properties have been spaciously designed, with the townhouses and penthouses benefiting from a spacious study.

Replacing the out-dated 1950s fire station building that was demolished by the previous owner of the site, the scheme is carefully designed to blend sympathetically with its surroundings of predominantly Victorian and Edwardian residential streets. Reflecting the local architectural style, the new properties include traditional brick frontages and slate roofs, with detailing such as the windows and chimneys that are inspired by features of the Victorian architecture but reworked in a contemporary style.

Richard Page, Sales & Marketing Director of Spitfire Bespoke Homes, comments: “We are excited to have taken on this prime site within Windsor and are looking forward to moving ahead with the build as soon as possible. The new development will have a positive impact on the character of the local area, replacing a now vacant plot with a supply of high quality new homes. This is a very sought after and in demand location, with the benefit of being a fully residential street in easy walking distance of the town centre. With the variety of property types that we are creating, our development will appeal to a range of buyers from families through to downsizers, seeking a combination of style and convenient central location.”
